Island Caretaker

January 13, 2009 by Leslie (LadyMin)

This looks like the job for me … and about a million other people!

Hamilton Island

The website for The Island Reef Job crashed when hundreds of thousands of freezing cold people wanted to apply for a job in the sun! While this is a publicity stunt, the job does appear to be real and some lucky individual wil be spending 6 months on the island.

The Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef is a newly created position. There are a few minor tasks that need to be taken care of, but the most important duty is to report back to Tourism Queensland (and the world) and let us know what’s taking place on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.

Other duties include:

  1. Explore and report back
  2. Clean the pool
  3. Feed the fish
  4. Collect the mail

I think I could handle it.

Well, as an Aussie, I can say that you would have about a one in 120,000 chance (last I heard) of getting it. LOL

I’d hate to be the people (or person!!) vetting the applications! :O

Still… from a purely personal perspective… It’d be nice if you got it. ;)
