Sometimes the geek in me escapes (which explains this totally non garden or food related post) and I’ll put down the garden magazines and read science fiction novels and Wired Magazine, peruse BoingBoing, watch old Star Treks, bore people not into science stuff, tell nerdy jokes, and even turn on the Sci Fi Channel. Stuff like that.
So, when I read that NBC had a “New Coke” moment and had renamed Sci Fi Channel to SyFy, I broke out in laughter. Surely they jest. Was this an April Fool’s joke that got out early? Change the name if you insist, but choose something that doesn’t sound like a disease.
Hmmm. So… people really are getting dumber and more illiterate? I’ve always thought so.
Still, they almost got *FOX* right… just need to change the ‘o’ to…

PS. Speaking of Star Trek… the new movie has an Aussie (Eric Bana) as the villain Nero. He played the Hulk and others. Lot of Aussies in US movies lately.
Apparently, Paramount have already started filming a sequel!
