The herb garden is plentiful right now. September is when I start cutting them back and freezing them for winter. It’s best to do this now while they are at their full flavor.

Actually, considering your environment, those plants look pretty healthy. Good job.
This was a very good year for the herbs. I think the lack of extremely high temperatures kept them happy. And if by environment you mean pollution, it’s not that bad where I am out in the suburbs.
Most of them freeze well so I should have semi-fresh herbs all winter long. And they are 100% organic, so my frozen herbs are still healthier than the fresh stuff that comes from most grocery stores.
Fresh? Grocery stores? Now… THERE is a contradiction in terms! LOL
Environment as in Chicago. (High pollution + normally lousy weather!)
