This is the first year I’m participating in Project FeederWatch and I am still amazed at the variety of birds that come to the backyard. They’ve probably been here before but I didn’t notice because I wasn’t watching for them.
A pair of Mourning Doves showed up at the feeder last week. I haven’t seen one in the yard in a long time. Today while I was watching the feeders I saw a Brown Creeper in the elm tree. That is a ‘first time I’ve seen one in the yard’ bird for me. Unfortunately it was too fast for me to get a picture. The Mourning Dove was happy to pose for me.
Birds seen last weekend:
- Northern Cardinal
- Blue Jay
- Downy Woodpecker
- White-breasted Nuthatch
- House Sparrow
- House Finch
- American Goldfinch
- Dark-eyed Junco
- Red-bellied Woodpecker
- Chickadee
- Mourning Dove
