Bunny Hop

Ah ha… I caught you this time. Someone has been nibbling on my young bean plants and eating the new cucumber seedlings. I suppose I should be grateful that it wasn’t something large like a deer.

Cheeky Squirrel

The ground beneath my apple tree is littered with partially eaten apples. A bite here, a bite there, and then drop it on the ground! Today I discovered the culprit. As I suspected, a squirrel, aka Tree Rat. This one was particularly tenacious. When I tried to shoo him away, he held his ground, or [...]

Quack! Mallard Ducks in the Yard

More signs of spring. A pair of Mallard Ducks stopped by my yard yesterday. They were quite friendly and stayed long enough for a piece of bread and a photo op. Now if my grass would just start turning green… those brown patches are ugly.

Occasionally I get wildlife in my yard. Not the party kind, the animal kind. I went to check on my seedlings yesterday morning. There had been a storm the night before. In the pot where I had a cucumber plant, I saw what looked like a tiny face. I moved it and a little toad [...]
